Shahi Matar Paneer (Creamy Indian Curry)

Shahi Matar Paneer is another delicious curry from India. This dish is rich and creamy and made with fresh paneer and peas. Paneer is one of our favorite ingredients in our Indian recipes and like most of our recipes this dish is quite easy to make. The chunks of paneer will be slightly fried and simmered in a rich and creamy gravy sauce along with flavor of fresh green peas.

Super easy to cook

Don´t be shocked of the long list of ingredients. Shahi Matar Paneer is super simple to make and within 20 minutes you have a creamy Indian dish to serve for your family or friends.

Ingredients
300 g Paneer, cut into cubes
75 g green peas
2 tbs peanut oil
2 tbs Ghee
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp Garam Masala
2 med sized onions, chopped
2 tsp Garlic-Ginger Paste
10-12 cashew nuts, soaked in warm water
2 big tomatoes , chopped
½ tsp ground cardamom
2 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chili powder
Salt to taste
4 tbs fresh cream
1 tsp lemon juice

First heat peanut oil in a pan and fry paneer from all sides till it turns golden brown. Drain and set aside.

Now heat ghee in the pan and add cloves, onions, cardamom, ground coriander, Garam Masala and ground pepper and stir fry for a few seconds. Add onions and Garlic-Ginger Paste and fry till onion turns golden brown.

Than you add tomatoes and stir everything for another minute.

Now it is time to make the Masala creamy. Grind the soaked cashew nuts and the turmeric until you have a smooth paste. You may add some more water here. Add the paste and some more water into the pan and stir well.

At the end add paneer cubes, peas, cream, lemon juice and more water if the sauce is to thick. Stir fry for another minute and season with salt and red chili powder. Serve with paratha or Naan.
