Homemade Ginger Ale
Ginger Ale is not a typical Asian recipe. It´s a refreshing lemonade that has it´s roots back in 1850 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We love the taste of ginger and when you bring the fresh taste of lemon and ginger together in a carbonated soft drink you´ll have a perfect refreshing drink.
5 cm fresh ginger root, peeled and grated
250 ml water (and more to fill the bottles)
120 g granulated sugar
5 tbs fresh lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp champagne dried yeast
Bring water to a boil, remove from heat. Stir in sugar, salt and ginger. Let the mixture cool and add lime juice.
Pour liquid in a plastic bottle (for 2 Liters) and fill with more water. Leave 3 cm space to the bottleneck.
Now add yeast, close bottle with a lid and shake until dissolved. Set bottle aside for 12-48 hours on room temperature. You have to wait until the liquid is carbonated. Check the bottle.
When it feels hard the Ginger Ale is ready to drink. Use a sieve to separate ginger from liquid when you fill the Ginger Ale in bottle.
