The Best Momos in Pokhara: A Hidden Local Gem

Last post: Back in Civilization (Nepal 19)

On our second day in Pokhara, we went on a mission to find the best authentic Nepali food – and no, we weren’t looking for Dal Bhat. After days of trekking in the Annapurna region, we had plenty of it. Instead, we were craving something different – something that truly hits the spot after a long hike.

That’s when we stumbled upon a small place called Sabina’s Momos, a tiny local eatery hidden away from the tourist traps. As you can imagine, they specialize in one thing: Momos – the most beloved dumplings in Nepal.

Momos are traditional Nepalese dumplings, typically steamed and filled with either minced meat or vegetables. They’re found all over the country, but trust me: the best Momos in Pokhara are served right here. The restaurant is small, and yes, you’ll have to wait – but that’s a good sign. Everything is made fresh and by hand. The flavors are bold, comforting, and truly unforgettable.

Whether you’re into juicy meat-filled Momos or delicious vegetarian ones, Sabina’s has both. And for just a few rupees, you’ll walk away full and happy.

If you’re looking for authentic Nepali street food in Pokhara and want to eat like the locals do, skip the backpacker cafés and head to Sabina’s.
