Penang: Streetfood and Steetart in Georgetown

Last post: Trip to Georgetown, Penang (SEA 13)

When you stay on Penang you have to go out for some good food. If you want to try all the local dishes you have to stay longer than 3 days in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Georgetown.

We met our friend Lynn in the morning to go out for breakfast. A typical breakfast for Penang. Soup and many different kinds of dumplings served with tea and also with Teh Tarik Ice. A must have tea when you stay in Malaysia.

Right after breakfast we visited the China House. A place where the big art scene of the city has it´s base. There are many different rooms full of art. You can find a coffee house and also a restaurant combined with live music every evening. A place that also would fit into the hipster city areas of Berlin, New York or London. Definitely a place to meet some new and interesting People.

From there we had a long walk to see the street art places of Penang. A few years ago Penang became famous for its Street Art and now you also can find a guide where to find what.

Here you can find the “Tour Guide” for a Street Art walk in Penang!

We also went to the Clan Jettis next to the sea. A place to rest and enjoy the sunset.

At night we went out to a Hawker Food Center to have lots of local dishes. We had Char Koay Teow, Hokkien Mee and Fried Oyster and (of course) Teh Tarik Ice.
