Singapore – temples, churches and historical buildings

Singapore – temples, churches and historical buildings

Last post: Read how I decided to start this trip – (SEA 1)

Both flights with Qatar Airways where totally relaxed. Good service, good food and a complete row of 3 steats on the second flight just for me.

I stepped out of the plane in Singapore with enough sleep and Pecilius picked me up at the airport. I was a lucky coincidence that I had someone in Singapore to show me around. Me and Pecilius have a common friend and so things came together.

Pecilius dropped me of at my hostel and started her rough sightseeing program subsequently. First she showed my the Armenian Church of Saint Gregory. The oldest church of Singapore. From here we went to The Old Parliament House (The oldest government building in Singapore) and to Chinatown.

We also went to The Sri Mariamman Temple – The oldest Hindu temple in town with an impressive roof.

This temple was the first of many uncountable temples in SEA. 🙂

Then we stepped into the next temple – but the first Buddhist temple. The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. This red painted and impressive building gave me the first view of religion in SEA. I was impressed and felt so thankful to have a guide like Pecilius.

Culinary I couldn´t start better than with Pecilius. I had to stretch my stomach when eating with her 🙂 That day we had spicy marinated chicken lung and feet in Chinatown. I had sweets from a French bakery and finally a dinner in an Indian restaurant. Fishcurry, Naan bread, Curry with vegetables and a kind of Wan Tans filled with chickpeas. All together with a super delicious Mango Lassi.

Up from this point it was unavoidable for me to start a Foodblog.

I went back to my hostel where I realized that I didn´t spent one cent jet. Pecilius refused every try of letting me pay. Like I´m her guest and I´m the king. I had no chance. So here is the right platform and time to say thank you again Pecilius.

In the evening I was sitting on the rooftop of my hostel (The Green Kiwi Backpackers) and relaxed with a cold Tiger Beer before I felt to bed in a 6 bed dorm.
