Sightseeing in Saigon: A little history lesson

Last post: From Phnom Penh to Saigon (SEA 79)

Today I went out to get a history lesson in Saigon. I´ve met 2 guys from Frankfurt and a guy from Los Angeles and we went to the Ben Thanh market to have a traditional Vietnamese breakfast before we visited the Independence Palace and the War Remnants Museum. When you visit Saigon you should bring some time to visit this museum. You get so many detailed information about the war that you can spend at least 3 hours here.

Street Food

For lunch I found a super delicious street food place right on the sidewalk. The best noodle soup (Phó) in Saigon. An old lady was sitting on a small plastic chair on a small sidewalk and was preparing this Vietnamese dish. As drink she served a Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk and ice cubes. After lunch we walked over to the Notra Dame cathedral that looks kind of strange in the center of Saigon. Form there it was a short walk to the Saigon River where I made I short nap next to the river.

Tonight I will went out for more street food. And my plan is to join a volleyball match in the park next to my hostel. In the evening the park is full with locals doing sports. So hopefully I can join a group.
